Description:​

A quiet middle-aged man, Mikkelus is easily overlooked in a crowd. Arguably, his most distinctive feature is the stainless steel travel mug that seems to seldom leave his hand. He favors functional and comfortable over fashionable in his daily life. Coveralls  or subdued chinos, equally suited to the many  movement exercises that mark his day or to working in the garden, make up most of his wardrobe. Years outdoors have left his short-cropped hair bleached by the sun and given him a deep permanent tan. Time, too, has begun to etch lines in his features, making it hard to guess his exact age. When he smiles or laughs, which is most often when interacting with his children, the years seem to melt away.

Bio:

Though his Dutch passport lists his date of birth as February 29 in 1956, Mikkelus marks the start of his life as 1982, when he moved to Hong Kong and began studying traditional Chinese Medicine. After the turnover of Hong Kong, he served ten years as a ships doctor for the Holland American Lines. He met and married Alllie in 2009; daughters Aislin and Abigail were born in 2010, and son Anthony James (AJ) was born in 2011. After the bombing of the Corner Clinic in Cleveland in 2012, the family moved to Ireland. 

  Most days, he may be found with his children, tending his 'Tea Garden of the Soul'.
