SETTING: Cumaisc

Located on the west bank of the Cong river at the mouth of the Cong and Lough Corrib, Ashford Castle is the stage for a World of Darkness / Werewolf: The Apocalypse game set in present day Ireland, with a few significant changes.

In the game, Ashford Castle is NOT a luxuriously restored hotel hosting well-to-do human guests and their families on holiday. It is privately owned, with tours offered by appointment only, and private security politely refers members of the general public to The Lodge at Ashford Castle or to the village of Cong for sightseeing opportunities or for lodging.

Ashford Castle lies due south from the village of Cong, on the Galway side of the Galway/Mayo border. In an area with a history that spans centuries and even millenia, the castle and surrounding lands have been held and contested, as has much of Ireland itself, by White Howlers, Fianna, Get of Fenris, Shadow Lords, and Silver Fangs. A Unity Caern at present, the Sept of Emerald Dreams currently calls the castle and surrounding area home.

The Lodge at Ashford Castle, a four star hotel and restaurant, is open to the general public. It features 24 luxurious guest bedrooms and 26 unique suites. Want to book a private tour of the castle? Absolutely! The next available tour date is... oh, my... oh my goodness... I'm afraid the next available tour is in 28 months. There will be a despoti required to hold that date.

The Ashford Equestrian Centre,  is open to the general public for horseback riding and riding lessons, archery, clay pidgeon shooting, bike rentals and guided tours, archaeological tours, kayaking, water skiing, and powerboat charter. Reservations recommended. (Owned and managed by kinfolk.)

Likewise, Ireland's School of Falconry offers members of the general public the opportunity to fly a Harris Hawk in the gardens and the woodlands surrounding Ashford Castle on a scenic one hour private Hawk Walk, generally by reservation only. In addition, the school also offers a bird sanctuary and recovery center, which is not generally accessable to members of the general public.
